It’s human nature to try to avoid failure.
Or at least to avoid the public shame and humiliation that often comes from having your failures acknowledged.
But when we hide our failings, we can’t learn from them, and neither can the others around us.
One of the greatest values of failing is the learning that can come from it.
That’s why one of the most important roles you can play as a leader is to create what I call “fail-safe” environments.
A culture where people feel like they can take smart risks, fail, learn from them, improve, and move one.
Without the negative risks of career and reputational damage.
In this episode I talk about ways to create a fail-safe environment, and what you as the leader can do to foster an environment where you people feel safe to own their failures and learn from them.
